SynthID
SynthID adds an invisible digital watermark to an AI-generated image (or video segment). The watermark doesn’t change the image or video quality. It’s added the moment content is created, and designed to stand up to modifications like cropping, adding filters, changing frame rates, or lossy compression.
TL;DR
- SynthID is a new watermarking tool for AI-generated content.
- It embeds invisible digital watermarks into images, audio, and text.
- The watermarks are detectable by SynthID technology but not by humans.
- SynthID is designed to remain effective even after content modifications like cropping, filters, compression, or changes in speed.
- Users can check for SynthID watermarks by uploading content to Gemini or using the SynthID Detector portal.
- Google is collaborating with journalists and media professionals to test the SynthID Detector.
