TL;DR
- Schools that reject Google's AI features will have Google Search disabled.
- This decision affects Gemini, Gemini Notebook, Gemini in Classroom, and Google Search for K-12 student accounts.
- Administrators cannot disable AI features independently of Search.
- Google argues this change offers schools more choice, allowing individual service toggles.
- Google is also embedding a 'Guided Learning' feature into AI Overviews in Search to combat shortcut-taking by students.
