Hark, an AI Hardware Startup from Figure AI's CEO, Raises $700M

Hark, a secretive AI lab founded by Figure AI CEO Brett Adcock, has raised $700 million in a Series A funding round, valuing the company at $6 billion. The startup is focused on building a "personal AI platform" that combines custom hardware, software, and foundation models, placing it in competition with major tech companies like OpenAI and Apple.

Hark, a little-known AI hardware lab led by Figure AI chief executive Brett Adcock, has rocketed into the top tier of AI bets by raising $700 million at a $6 billion valuation before shipping a single product. The deal intensifies the race to define what a mass-market AI device should look like.

Founded in late 2025 with $100 million of Adcock’s own money, Hark spent its first months in stealth, pitching a “personal AI platform” that fuses in‑house foundation models, software, and custom hardware instead of focusing on one layer of the stack. The company formally emerged from stealth roughly two months before closing its Series A, positioning itself as a universal interface to the digital world.

On May 21, Hark announced the $700 million Series A, led by Parkway Venture Capital and joined by a roster of strategic backers including Nvidia, AMD Ventures, Intel Capital, Qualcomm Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, ARK Invest, and others. The round values the San Jose–based lab at $6 billion and places it alongside the largest early‑stage AI hardware financings.

Adcock says the goal is a deeply personalized assistant that lives on dedicated devices, not just in chat windows. “We’re building the AI that everyone deserves, but no one has built yet — one that actually knows you, speaks your language, is highly personalized, and lives on hardware made for you,” he said, adding that the funding will help put that in people’s hands “quickly and at scale.”

Reporters and investors, however, note how little the company has revealed. TechCrunch calls Hark “secretive,” stressing that its agentic system is meant as a “universal interface with the digital world” and that multimodal models are expected this summer, followed by dedicated hardware devices. The Next Web points to a market “littered with failures,” from Humane’s AI Pin to Rabbit’s R1, as a warning that even vast capital and elite chip partners don’t guarantee a must‑have consumer product.

Hark’s own pitch counters that most current AI tools serve software developers, while it aims to “really help the normal person” navigate everyday life. Whether that vision can overcome privacy worries, hardware skepticism, and user fatigue with experimental gadgets will be tested when its first models and devices finally appear.
