Deezer Launches AI Music Detection Tool for Multiple Streaming Services

Music streaming service Deezer has launched a free AI music detector that can scan playlists from other popular platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. The tool allows users to connect their accounts and identify AI-generated tracks within their personal libraries.

Music streamer Deezer is escalating the fight over AI-generated songs by taking its detection technology directly to listeners, even when they use rival services like Spotify and Apple Music.

Early groundwork and industry reluctance

Deezer was among the first major platforms to begin systematically labeling AI-generated music and later offered its detection technology to competitors. But other services largely declined to adopt it, instead favoring lighter-touch approaches such as voluntary tagging of synthetic tracks.

As AI music uploads surged and concerns grew about copyright, training data, and streaming fraud, most major platforms still had not rolled out their own detection tools.

June 11 launch: tool opens to rival platforms

On June 11, 2026, Deezer unveiled a free online AI music detector that works across 20 major streaming services and in 27 languages. Users visit Deezer’s AI music detector site, select their streaming platform, grant access, and have their playlists imported—using technology Deezer already employs to help people migrate from competitors. The system then scans those playlists, flags any AI-generated tracks, and lets users share the results.

The tool supports services including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube Music.

Deezer’s hard-line stance on AI music

Deezer positions the launch as part of a broader, more aggressive stance against synthetic content. Unlike rivals that mainly tag AI music, Deezer actively removes such tracks from recommendations and excludes them from editorial playlists, pitching this as a transparency and trust advantage for users.

CEO Alexis Lanternier underscored the company’s frustration with industry inaction, saying that because “no other company has followed our lead yet,” Deezer decided to let “everyone…check if their playlists include synthetic music, no matter which streaming platform they use.”

Deezer is also weighing tougher future measures, including updating supplier policies or removing AI content entirely—steps that could align it with platforms like Bandcamp, which has already banned AI music.
