SpaceX has closed its $60 billion acquisition of Cursor, turning one of AI’s best-known coding tools into a building block for Grok. The deal raises the stakes for Elon Musk’s effort to make his chatbot a more capable workplace agent—not merely a conversational one.

The transaction was completed Friday, according to Cursor’s announcement, after Grok added an AI-agent feature earlier in the week. Cursor said it would join the work on Grok, placing its coding technology alongside efforts spanning the chatbot, Grok Build, Grok Bot and the Grok API.¹
